About the event

BlackPush continues to stand on the frontline and shout that we cannot let time pass and we must take action now to end gun violence.

Please Join us!!

There is a clear need for on-the-ground community work at a local level to combat this national  crisis of gun violence. There have been more than 20 years of ineffective gun reform in this  country and hundreds of deaths nationwide. This type of senseless loss of life affects the families  of the victims but also their communities and our nation.

The sheer frequency of these events is desensitizing the mainstream, while at the same time  causing an unprofaned sense of trauma in the nation. We have children afraid to return to  schools, parishioners apprehensive about coming out to houses of worship, and families afraid to  go to the grocery store, movie theaters, work, and community social gatherings. Community  members are living in fear of even interacting with police or sleeping in their own beds. Due to the issues stated above BlackPush is partnering with First Iconium Baptist Church,  Concerned Black Clergy, and Atlanta NAACP to host a Gun Violence Round Table Discussion  on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at First Iconium Baptist Church located at 542 Moreland Ave  SE, Atlanta, GA 30316, from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm EST. BlackPush will not allow media in the  room during the conversation but would love to do interviews prior to the event and a press  conference the day of the event.

Also in attendance will be the U.S Attorney General for the Northern District of Georgia Ryan  Buchanan, Representatives from DHS and the FBI, County Commissioners, government  officials, individuals who have been affected by gun violence and just overall concerned  community members. This Round Table Discussion will highlight stories of gun violence as well  as proposed actions needed to ensure a safer Atlanta for all its citizens. So, we are inviting the  press out on September 1, 2022, at 9:30 am, for an interview session with Shaun Smith and our  partners to explain the importance of this event and why we are having it. The interview session  will be held at First Iconium Baptist Church from 9:30 am-10:30 am in the main sanctuary.  Please let us know if you are coming by calling me at the number below or just simply sending an email.
